Ijirak

The ijirak are malevolent wraiths believed to be the spirits lost children who succumbed to exposure in the wilds. They typically appear as young children with yellow eyes but may be capable of shape-shifting or some other forms of illusion. While an ijirak remains on this world they are known to trick and otherwise harass hunters and travellers, driving them into deeper wilds where they might succumb to a similar fate as the unfortunate child the ijirak originate from.

Notes

• Like many native spirits, ijirak may be temporarily dissipated with refined steel or dwarf iron
• Some rumours suggest ijirak might be permanently dispatched by a steel tipped arrow fletched with eagle's feathers
• The only proven method of permanently solving an ijirak problem is to reunite the ijirak with the family of the original child. In every recorded case the family does not survive this encounter.
